Dave - Bicycle Facilities (General)
How about a partnership with the Downtown YMCA, a "bike commuter" program where, for a reduced price, bicyclists get access to a locker and shower facilities, but not the full gym. I work downtown, and had considered the Y but it was just too costly. I didn't want to pay full price for the full facility since I would only be there for the shower/locker facilities.
anonymous commuter - Complete Streets
I commute from Bayview to downtown, which is mostly a nice commute. The main problem is the lack of a bike lane on KK north of the KK river. For most of the stretch north of the river, there is a shoulder/parking lane which VERY few people use for parking. I propose this shoulder/parking lane be turned into a bike lane. There is ample side street parking in this area (KK between downtown and the KK river is pretty desolate) for those who need to park around there. Just an idea.
Dave - Bikeway Network
One more thing ... since I have limited characters per post: The east-west routes in and out of Downtown are fairly bike friendly, my personal favorite is Highland, and I'm eagerly awaiting the completion of the Highland bridge just west of Harley Davidson. A bike/bus only lane along Wisconsin Avenue downtown and through the Marquette campus would make the Downtown portion of my daily commute a little more enjoyable, although I have't had any major problems.
